Architecture Month

October 2007 was officially proclaimed Architecture Month by the City of Los Angeles. The emphasis was on bringing together diverse professional and public-interest groups, including AIA Los Angeles and a host of participating organizations, to celebrate the built environment and bring awareness of the importance of design to the community at large. The initiative was formally declared by Los Angeles 4th District Councilman Tom La Bonge on Friday October 12, 2007 at 9:45am, in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Architecture Month encourages the entire architecture community to develop programs that promote architects and architecture to the citizens of Los Angeles and neighboring communities. Most of the groups involved are non-profits or not-for-profits; ongoing and existing programs have also been assembled under the banner of Architecture Month to give them a wider audience and exposure.
