MOBIUS LA 2010 CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS – INSTRUCTIONS

AIA/LA is the CES Provider of Record for all educational credit awarded during MOBIUS LA 2010. As such, the AIA/LA is charged with ensuring that all programs meet the requirements of the AIA/CES. Presentation materials and content must be educational and may not include reference to specific products or services with the intent to sell. All proposals submitted will be given equal consideration, but due to limited programming space, not all can be accepted. Please do not re-submit presentations that have been submitted to Mobius LA in previous years.

CONTENT
AIA/LA is seeking a robust curriculum of presentations, that include, but are certainly not limited to design, building codes, ADA, sustainability, marketing, legal matters, contract documents, etc. Presentations geared more for the general public are also welcomed.

PRESENTATION DURATION & AUDIENCE
Each presentation is to last one hour and thirty minutes (1.5 hours). The audience will range from 25 – 100 attendees with varying degrees of expertise.

CLASSROOM SET-UP & EQUIPMENT
Each classroom will be set-up theater style (row of chairs). Speakers are positioned at the front of the room with microphones and a screen. Please plan your presentation accordingly. A projector will be provided in each classroom to show PowerPoint presentations. The classrooms will NOT have internet access or computers. Note: PowerPoint presentations will be due by Friday June 4, 2010.

SESSION HANDOUTS
If desired, presenters may provide handouts at their sessions but must understand that they are responsible for duplicating handouts on their own and no reimbursements will be offered for incurred expenses. Handouts need not be included with this proposal submission.

FUNDING & SPEAKER EXPENSES
No honorariums or travel expenses are provided. Furthermore, speakers are responsible for all expenses incurred in the development and offering of their presentation. All selected speakers will be entitled to a complimentary access pass to the Dwell on Design expo floor.

EVALUATION PROCESS
The MOBIUS LA Committee will review and evaluate every properly formatted proposal. Evaluations will be made based upon clarity and focus of proposal, topic timeliness, experience of speaker(s) and overall potential to contribute to a well-balanced conference program. Proposed presentations should be both well balanced and current and should not sell, promote or pitch any specific product, service or discipline.
